Scripture
Galatians 5:13
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Observation
Through Christ we have freedom–but not freedom for the purpose of self-indulgence, but rather freedom for the purpose of loving rightly and serving well.
Application
Freedom is a popular topic in our nation and our culture–but usually the focus is on personal freedom to pursue my personal desires. The freedom I have in Christ is greater and deeper. It is the freedom to serve, the freedom to love, and the freedom to live out God’s purpose for my life.
Today I choose to walk in the freedom of selfless service, rather than the freedom of selfish ambition.
Prayer
God, thank you for your freedom in my life! Teach me to walk in freedom, so that I could be a light for you and a conduit of your love. May I serve you well by serving others, so that you would be glorified in my life.
