Scripture
Luke 14:28-30
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower.  Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough to complete it first?  For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ’This person began to build and was not able to finish.’
Observation
There is much preparation that goes into building a structure.  So many variants that have to be considered.  One has to know the costs and plans to build a solid, sustainable structure.  If unprepared a builder may run out of time, energy and money.
Application
Becoming a Christian is a commitment that is not to be taken lightly. Following Christ is something that I had to do willingly knowing that I may be ridiculed, giving of my time and doing things that are outside my comfort zone.  I do not want to be faint hearted and know that with the good times, there are also difficult times. I must continue to build on the foundation of my faith and continue this race, never giving up, no matter the cost.
Prayer
Lord God, I am so grateful that you gave me salvation from my sins.  Help me to continue to build my faith, secure in the plan you have for me, and keep my eyes on the finish line.
