When I see the carnal world around me, I can slip into anxiety about the spiritual battle being waged-but I must remember that the battle is God’s to fight, not mine. The things that would overwhelm me, the king simply laughs at–because his strength is not in danger of running out.

Scripture
Psalm 2:2-4
“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his Anointed saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.”
Observation
The arrogance of carnal thinking is so clearly depicted here! Carnal thinking always stands in opposition to God’s kingship. God’s response is laughter-not the gentle laughter of a parent, but the derisive laughter of one who knows their own authority and strength. God is not stressed or anxious about those who stand against him, because there is no one who can withstand the King of kings.
Application
I don’t want to approach God in rebellion and arrogance, and I don’t ever want to put myself in a place to be the object of his derision. I want to align my life with his kingship and authority.
When I see the carnal world around me, I can slip into anxiety about the spiritual battle being waged-but I must remember that the battle is God’s to fight, not mine. The things that would overwhelm me, the king simply laughs at–because his strength is not in danger of running out.
This week I need to walk in the peace of being submitted to the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.
Prayer
God, thank you that you are still on the throne, and your power is not exhausted. You are my king, and you are amazing!
